Sitting With Your Pet Loss Grief

Updated: Sep 29
A guided meditation for pet loss grief to help you sit with your emotions, process loss, and create space for sadness, love, and healing.
Grief after pet loss can feel like something you need to outrun. We stay busy, we push through, we tell ourselves to hold it together, and then suddenly, in a quiet moment, the weight of it finds us. This guided meditation was created for exactly that moment.
Led by Jean Gutierrez, Jasper's grief support coach and sound healer, this meditation doesn't ask you to feel better. It doesn't try to fix the grief, rush it, or help you move past it. It simply creates space for your emotions to exist as they are, with gentleness and without judgment.
What to Expect
This is a meditation for the moments when the pain feels close to the surface. When you miss your pet deeply. When you need permission to simply feel.
Jean guides you through a slow, grounded practice: slowing your breath, settling into your body, and acknowledging the grief you're carrying. Not pushing against it, but sitting beside it with compassion and presence.
You don't need to feel calm to begin. You just need to show up.
Why "Sitting With" Is Different
Many of us have been taught, implicitly or explicitly, that grief is something to get through. That the goal is to feel better. Meditation designed around pet loss can fall into that same trap, offering relaxation as a way of bypassing the hard feelings rather than being with them.
This meditation takes a different approach. It's grounded in the understanding that your grief is not a problem to be solved. It's the natural expression of how much you loved your pet. Making room for it, rather than bracing against it, is one of the most caring things you can do for yourself right now.
When to Use This
This meditation is well-suited for when you're having a particularly hard day and need somewhere to land, when you want to feel close to your pet's memory without it spiraling into distress, when you've been holding it together and need a safe place to let yourself feel, or before bed, when the quiet makes the absence more present.
